UFPJ has put together a variety of resources to assist you in your organizing and activism on peace and justice issues. The links below will take you to current information on the issues we work on. They offer suggestions on how to plan effective events, educate the public, expand and develop connections among issues, and promote sustained action for change.

UFPJ Member Group Resources provides details of the work our member organizations are doing, information and opportunities for action on issues of peace and justice.

UFPJ’s National Briefing Calls Our national briefing calls are archived on our website.  They provide a platform for activists and policy experts to present new information, research, and actions on peace and justice issues.  The briefing calls address a range of issues and topics, including nuclear disarmament, specific conflicts, military spending and movement building.

Military Spending/Costs of War provides current information on federal spending on the military and how it affects citizens and their communities as well ideas for public actions.

Martin Luther King Jr. Resources includes texts and recording of his greatest speeches as well as suggestions for organizing public readings of “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence,” which remains relevant to our times.

Nonviolent Direct Action and Organizing for Change will direct you to organizations that train people to engage in nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience and information on effective strategies for promoting change.

Mayors for Peace Action Toolkit

Mayors for Peace, founded in 1982 and led by the Mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, is working for a world without nuclear weapons, safe and resilient cities, and a culture of peace, as essential measures for the realization of lasting world peace. As of November 1, 2021, Mayors for Peace has grown to 8,054 cities in 165 countries and regions, with 220 U.S. members— representing in total over one billion people. Mayors for Peace’s next membership goal is to reach 10,000 member cities as quickly as possible.  This Toolkit provides ideas and resources for action on disarmament in your city or town.

The Ukraine crisis: commentary, responses, and background

United for Peace and Justice is a network of organizations, and there is some diversity of views regarding the nature of the current crisis. But all agree in their opposition to the threat or use of force as a means to resolve international conflict. This page offers a selection of Ukraine resources from a variety of organizations and perspectives, from UFPJ member groups and elsewhere. Inclusion here does not indicate endorsement by UFPJ.
