Oakland, CaliforniaRSVP • A Day in Solidarity with African People Sunday, September 19th 2010 1:00pm The theme of this year's event is "Beyond Obama: Seeking Real Solutions to the Growing Racial Divide in the U.S." and is part of a national campaign culminating in events to benefit the worldwide struggle of African people for liberation, reparations and self-determination.
The Oakland event features Glen Ford, of the Black Agenda Report and the Black is Back Coalition for Peace, Social Justice and Reparations, Uhuru Movement leader and founder Omali Yeshitela, and Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee.

From a legendary journalist, this is a muckraking expose of the bipartisan origins of the greatest financial scandal. Scheer revisits those years of business lobbying when the politicians of both parties rolled over for the banks, in order to show that this fiasco could have been anticipated and that there are culprits responsible that should be named and who continue to wield enormous power over our lives.

Drawing on original research and firsthand interviews, Conversations with Terrorists offers critical portraits of six Middle Eastern leaders often labeled as terrorists. Erlich shows that yesterday’s terrorist is today’s national leader, and that today’s freedom fighter may become tomorrow’s terrorist.

Stephen Zunes is Professor of Politics and International Studies at the University of San Francisco, chair of its Middle Eastern Studies Program, senior policy analyst for the Foreign Policy in Focus project of the Institute for Policy Studies, associate editor of Peace Review, and chair of the academic advisory committee for the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict. Santa Monica, CaliforniaArlington West Memorial at Santa Monica 6am Weekly Event Each Sunday on the north side of the Pier at Santa Monica, California. Setup begins around 6-7am and takes about 5 hours to complete. Take down begins around 4-5pm and takes about 3-4 hours. Arlington West is a project of Veterans For Peace. This is a memorial to the human cost of war. We honor and recognize those who've lost their lives in the current incarnation of US foreign policy in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those on the receiving end of those benevolent US policies of "freedom and democracy" are also recognized in this human cost.
Arlington West is NON-PARTISAN and non-sectarian. We do not endorse nor advocate for political parties or for or against any religion. We invite all who embrace our vision and statement of purpose of bringing an end to war, bringing the troops home now and provide for them when they return, and to seek justice for victims of war. The film documents the Dalai Lama's meeting with the self-titled "Synthesis" group, made up of 40 Western "renaissance" thinkers who hope to use the meeting to change the world and resolve many of the world's problems. The meeting took place at the Dalai Lama's home in Dharamsala, India.
