Historic fearlessYOGA Teacher Training Friday, April 2nd 2010 Historic fearlessYOGA Teacher Training (fYTT)| April 2 - 28, 2010
Residential Intensive Certification Program
Application Deadline: March 19, 2010 | Scholarships available
fearlessYOGA is the first and only yoga approach ever designed for activists, allies, and agents of social change and this is the first teacher training offered on fearlessYOGA.
fearlessYOGA is Yoga Built for Justice
"Developed and instructed in a social justice framework that relates how we engage on the mat to how we behave in the world, the practice is returned to its rightful place as a personal practice for inner-life development, liberated from the mainstream, thus ownable by agents of social change."
-- angel Kyodo williams, Founder, Center for Transformative Change
Unique highlights and perspectives of the fYTT curriculum:
* Technique: fearlessMeditation: practice of the body
* Teaching Methodology: Social Justice "From Oppression to Liberation" & "Paradigms of Freedom"
* Philosophy: Introduction to Sanskrit
* Teaching Methodology: "Language of Freedom" Communication
* Philosophy: "Returning to Source: Yoga Sutras of Patañjali Study"
* Anatomy & Physiology: "Every Body DIfferent Body: The Structure of Limits"
* Lifestyle: Eating & Wellness
fearlessYOGA has been developed as a yoga practice specifically oriented towards activists. The precise language and approach of the "Effort & Release" teaching framework directly corresponds with the seminal yogic text, the Yoga-Sutras. The method illuminates the habit-patterns of aggression and over-doing by introducing postures in incremental levels of engagement. Alternatively, it encourages activists to learn to "back off" of over-reaching in exchange for discovering one's own internal pace and alignment.
The fearlessYOGA Teacher Training is a certification program that empowers the student-practitioner with both certification as a fearlessYoga Teacher (C-fYT) while also meeting the minimum requirements to become a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level (RYT200).
We welcome you to live, learn, and transform here, while immersing yourself in a residential, yogic lifestyle. fYTT has been designed in ways that will cultivate your ability to thrive in your personal and professional life and graduate as a unique fearlessYoga teacher, with a well-developed connection to a deep source of inspiration—and the ability to guide others into theirs.

We cannot afford to wait any longer to transform our transportation technology. Join energy expert, Dan Sperling, as he reveals what is at stake if we refuse to move quickly, and what opportunities exist if we act now.

Santa Barbara, CaliforniaBAIL OUT THE PEOPLE NOT THE BANKS 5 PM Multi-Day Event We are holding these rallies on Friday at 5pm at the main branch of the U.S. Post Office and Saturday at high noon in front of the Federal Bankruptcy Court at the corner of State and Sola Streets Santa Barbara Come join your fellow Santa Barbara residents for our own
“BAIL OUT THE PEOPLE NOT THE BANKS”
RALLY
In solidarity with United for Peace & Justice’s
“MARCH ON WALL STREET”
The time is now for the movements for peace and social and economic justice to do what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. advocated on April 4. 1967: break the silence about the deeper ills in our country that hold us back from a more just and peaceful world. Now is the time to step up and demand that our tax dollars be used to rebuild our communities and help, not hinder working people in their struggle for jobs, health care, housing, education, and a better future.
LET’S STAND BEHIND OUR PRESIDENT, WHO IS BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY GOLDMAN SAKS AND WALL STREET & SUPPORT HIM IN HIS EFFORT TO BAIL OUT MAIN STREET.
Friday, April 3rd, we ask that you gather with us at the U.S. Post Office (Federal building) at 836 Anacapa Street at 5pm with your signs and high spirits to demonstrate for President Obama’s Plan to Bail Out The Working People of our Nation!
Saturday, April, 4th, join your fellow outraged community activists at the Federal Bankruptcy Courthouse on the corner of State and Sola Streets at high noon for a BAN BANK BAILOUTS BASH. Bring signs and spirit to show our government that instead of bailing out bankers and greedy investors, we want our tax dollars spent on NEW NATIONAL PRIORITIES rooted in MLK’s vision of a world without poverty, inequality, or war.

Friday, August 7 - Fat Man & Little Boy (1989) 127 minutes
Directed by Roland Joffee ("The Killing Fields", "The Mission")
Starring Paul Newman as General Leslie R. Groves and Dwight Schultz as J. Robert Oppenheimer with John Cusak, Laura Dern and Natasshia Richardson.
Rated PG-13
As the world remembers the anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 and 9, 1945, come to the Peace Center of Delaware County on August 7 to see where and how it all began.
"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that one way or another." - J.Robert Oppenheimer, witnessing the first test of an atomic bomb, code-named "Trinity", July 16, 1944.
Three weeks later, on August 6 and 9, 1945, the world's first atomic bombs were dropped by the United States on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was nicknamed "Little Boy", the bomb dropped on Nagasaki was nicknamed "Fat Man" for Winston Churchill.
"FAT MAN & LITTLE BOY" dramatically and with precise historical detail tells the story of the Manhattan Project, which developed and built the world's first atomic bombs. In thematic narrative, the film introduces us to the project and people which developed the horror of nuclear weapons, from the inception of the Manhattan Project to the "Trinity" test blast. We are left to imagine at film's end the horror of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and the world of threatened nuclear annihilation in which we still live.
Accompanying the film at the Peace Center of Delaware County will be a large pictorial display from Japan of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, their after-effects, and the continuing threat posed by nuclear weaponry.
