International Day of Protest - Stop The Corporate Invasion of Iraq
Tuesday, February 24th 2004 12:00 pm San Francisco, CA USA
While Halliburton, Bechtel, and other U.S. companies with close ties to the Bush administration are raking in billions of dollars in "reconstruction" contracts, Iraq is still a mess: the schools are in disrepair, the phones don't work, electricity is intermittent, and the water isn't safe to drink.
Meanwhile, qualified Iraqi businesses say they are shut out of the
reconstruction of their own country, some 70% of Iraqi workers are
unemployed, and workers in state-owned enterprises (where the majority of Iraqis work) are forbidden from forming unions.
Location: Protest at Bechtel Corporate HQ 50 Beale Street (near Market) San Francisco CA
