Clergy and Laity Concerned About Iraq - Endorsement the Fall 2005 Mobilization

We strongly urge our government to honor the voice of the faithful. The Time is Bring the Troops Home is Now. The President’s continued use of falsehood to justify this disgraceful engagement and Congress’ refusal hold to the executive branch accountable has left us no other choice but to invoke our faith in a higher power and our traditions of religious dissent.

Therefore, CALC-I, in partnership with United for Peace and Justice, calls for a mass demonstration, lobbying, and righteous indignation in Washington, D.C. on September 24-26, 2005;

Unprecedented numbers of religious leaders and communities of faith for around the nation and through the world will in Washington, D.C. to:
  • March in an interfaith contingency on Saturday, September 24, 2005 for a mass march and rally.
  • Participate in an interfaith, peace, and justice service on the evening of Sunday, September  25, 2005 to prepare for
  • Combined lobbying on Capital Hill and express our righteous indignation through mass nonviolent civil disobedience focused on the current administration policy in Iraq on Monday, September 26, 2005;
