7pm-9:30pm: "Peace in Our Hearts, Peace
in the World:" A Meditation and Teach-In with Bhante Suhita Dharma and
David Loy
Location: Foundry United Methodist Church, 1500 16th St. NW (at P St, near the
DuPont Circle Station on the Red Line)
During this evening of dharma practice, study, and community building,
we’ll learn how the three poisons (greed, anger, delusion) manifest on a
social and political level, and how we can respond with skillfulness and
compassion. Everyone is welcome! We'll also have a space for kids coming to
help make posters for Saturday's march and to practice some fun yoga moves.
Bhante is a pastoral social worker who emphasizes service to homeless people,
prisoners, and others in need. He has been a monk over 40 years and has acted
as a bridge between many cultures in the world. David is the author of The
Great Awakening: A Buddhist Social Theory, and teaches at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Children and young people will have an opportunity to help make posters for the

SATURDAY, JAN. 27 8am: Iraq War Memorial Filming Brave New Films will have film crews on the Mall beginning at 8am to film and Gold Star Families who wish to tape a statement about their deceased loved ones. Inspired by the AIDS Quilt, the Vietnam memorial, and the New York
Times biographies of the 9/11 victims, Robert Greenwald and Brave New
Foundation, in partnership with numerous Iraq veterans groups, are
creating a living online memorial to U.S. soldiers killed during the
Iraq war. The Iraq Veterans Memorial will bear witness with the video
testimonies of family, friends, co-workers, and military colleagues of
those lost. 9am: Preparing Ourselves for Peace Work: An Interfaith Service Lutheran Church of the Reformation, 212 East Capitol Street NE
Sponsored by the Network of Spiritual Progressives and the Buddhist
Peace Delegation. (The service will conclude in time for participants to join the rally on

Women's Convergence for DC Mobilization Join Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Lynn Woolsey, Rhea Perlman, Eve Ensler, Mimi Kennedy, Q'orianka Kilcher, the Co-founders of CODEPINK and many other amazing women.
