Represent Your Congressional District in Washington on January 27th!

We call on people from every congressional district in the country to gather in Washington, DC, on Jan. 27, 2007 -- to express support for those members of Congress who are prepared to take immediate action against the war; to pressure those who are hesitant to act; and to speak out against those who remain tied to a failed policy.

You can help build this critical mobilization by signing up to be a contact person for people coming from your area to DC. This can involve spreading the word and encouraging people to come to DC, arranging buses, car caravans or rideshares, helping people find housing in DC, or just hosting a sign-making party.

  • To sign up to be a local coordinator, please read through the following instructions and then click on the link below to reach the sign-up form. On the first part of the form, please submit your contact information. On the second part of the form, the "Event Information" section, please describe what coordination efforts you would like to offer individuals in your area, even if you're not hosting an actual "event." Pick Jan. 27, 2007, as both your starting and ending date. Click here to fill out the form.

Please bear with us if this seems a bit confusing; we're adapting one of our existing online organizing tools for this purpose, so it may not be as straightforward as we'd like. Click here to see an example of what the event listing will look like.

  • Once you submit your "event," it will show up on this map and people will be able to "RSVP" for your event. You will then be able to log in and change or update your listing, and also contact the people who have RSVP'd for your event. If you have any trouble logging in to make changes to your listing, please email webmaster [at] unitedforpeace.org.

NOTE: If you are organizing buses or rides to DC, please post that information on our ride board as well.

  • It's up to you how much or little coordination you are willing to offer. However, please volunteer only for what you are willing and able to commit to, because folks in your area will be counting on you as their local coordinator. UFPJ will be sending regular emails to coordinators in order to help keep your efforts on track, to troubleshoot any problems you may be facing, and to offer resources and ideas for your efforts.
