On the evening of Thursday, December 1, we hosted the following presenters for a national discussion on Solidarity with Standing Rock, with over 350 activists from around the country RSVP’ed:
  • Judith Leblanc, Director of the Native Organizers Alliance & Former UFPJ National Co-Chair
  • Emily Ruff, Standing Rock Medic and Healer Council & Director of the Florida School of Holistic Living
  • Matt De Vlieger, United for Peace and Justice Communications and Organizing Coordinator & Peace Pledge Campaigner
  • Matt Howard, Co-Director of Iraq Veterans Against the War
    …And others!

The call opens with their accounts from the Oceti Sakowin Camp at Standing Rock, reports on the current day-to-day since the snow, updates on the orders of eviction, the arrival of 2,000 veterans to protect the camp, and a rundown of what kind of support is currently needed on-the-ground and around the country. Finally, engaged in an open discussion about targeted local actions that you can take as part of a broader national strategy.
