PETITION: Act Now to Save Iran Deal!

United for Peace and Justice welcomes the completion of the historic international agreement with Iran, which limits its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions and the ending of its isolation. After years of futile, horrific wars, we join with peace-loving people around the world in embracing this diplomatic achievement.

The long months of arduous negotiations attests to the difficulty of achieving compromise among adversaries. But at the end of this process, nobody has been killed, no communities have been obliterated, nor have billions of dollars been squandered on instruments of death. The lesson is clear. When the political will is there, diplomacy can succeed. United for Peace Justice views this agreement as the beginning, not the end of a path to peace. Iran’s potential capacity to develop nuclear weapons in the future has been understandably perceived as threatening. But much more immediately threatening are the existing arsenals of the nuclear-armed states: the U.S., Russia, Britain, China, France, Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea. We believe that the survival of humanity require new commitments to eliminate them all.For the immediate future, we recognize that irresponsible voices in Congress will do everything possible to kill the agreement with Iran. United for Peace and Justice is joining together with other national organizations in a Stop the Iran War Coalition to build a firewall of support for this deal. This will be an ongoing effort that will extend over the coming months. For now you can help by signing and circulating this petition. http://www.stopwarwithiran.com?source=ufpj

To assist in our ongoing Congressional campaign, please send a quick email with your name, and Congressional district to Rustiandgael@unitedforpeace.org

Our years of protest have helped to bring this historic deal to completion. Let’s make sure it passes.

Israel has 80 nuclear bombs. Iran has no deliverable weapon. How can a threat to manufacture a weapon some time in the future be worse than a deployable deliverally system
    ready for launch today?

I can not think of a single Republican MC trained in science who can compete with Ph. D’s hired by the US Arms Control Agency. Henry Kissinger was a smart Republican who studied the making of atomic bombs. He advised Nixon to sign the ABM Treaty to extend the nuclear fuses of the US and the USSR. The US , the Sec Council powers and Germany with scientists all think they can delay Iran’s potential to make a deliverable weapon. for a year or more.

Casper Weinberger and George Schultz in 1986 gave Reagan sound scientific advice to give humanity more time to lengthen the nuclear fuse.

It’s URGENT that there needs to be an organized mass demonstration & march in the major cities across the country to Support The Deal With Iran. And it needs to happen soon before Congress votes on it.

It should be called for Sunday, September 6th or on Sunday September 13th, just BEFORE Congress votes on the agreement.

Let’s take care that this citizen demonstration timing does not conflict with demonstrations of other good causes. I believe the NAACP is planning a march sometime in the middle of September concerning Black Lives Matter.

We need a peaceful mass demonstration to show support for The Nuclear Agreement with Iran, the likes that this country has not seen since February 15th, 2003, when United for Peace and Justice organized the mass anti-Iraq War demonstration across the country that said: “The World Says No to War”, in which hundreds of thousands and perhaps millions participated (including myself).

You can be sure that I will fully participate in this kind of a mass demonstration if UNFPJ will kindly organize the event. Thank you…

One issue not discussed often in the potential success of the agreement is the potential for opening the world to the Iranian people and how that potential will energize the Iranian people to seek more change in their government. Energizing the Iranian people is the ultimate source for changing Iran. They are an educated people with aspirations for themselves and their families.
